The latest scandal comes out of a British university (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/science/earth/21climate.html?_r=1&hp) from which emails dating back several years show that scientists were slanting conclusions in favor of global warming in order to insure grant money would keep flowing. I lived in the academic environment for several years, and became aware of the fierce competition among university professors for grant money. Their very jobs depend on the size and frequency of their support from grants. Without grant money there are no graduate students, thus no publications and no tenure. Would, for the sake of a career in academia, a professor or scientist slant the conclusions of his research to get him more grant money. Hmmmm? No way, I say! We scientists have a code of ethics and conduct. And if you believe that, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.
